Two UAlbany Lacrosse Alumni Named to Team Latvia Training Roster

ALBANY, N.Y. – Two former UAlbany players, brothers Eli and Riley Lasda, were named to the Team Latvia training roster for the upcoming 2018 Men’s Lacrosse World Games this summer.

Eli Lasda, Class of 2017, and Riley Lasda, Class of 2015, return to representing Latvia after playing in the World Games in 2014.  Each have roots to Latvian through their father.

Eli Lasda served in the UAlbany midfield as a two-way player.  In 51 games played over four years, he finished with 26 goals, 13 assists, 41 ground balls and 16 caused turnovers.  As a senior SSDM in 2017, he tallied 13 goals, 35 ground balls and 12 caused turnovers.

After transferring to UAlbany from Penn State, Riley Lasda played two years for the Great Danes at short stick midfield and LSM.  He played 37 games for the Great Danes with three starts, finishing with 33 ground balls and 13 caused turnovers.

Confirmed UAlbany players/alumni in the 2018 World Games include Dwayne Stewart for Jamaica and Eric Cantor for Israel.  Connor Fields and Bennett Drake were named to the Team Canada tryout roster.

Israel is serving as host for the FIL Championships from July 12-21, 2018.  More than 50 nations are set to compete in the 2018 championships.

In 2014, Latvia finished in 19th place with a 5-3 record.
