#5/5 UAlbany Men's Lacrosse Hosts #12/11 Yale for Spring Stomp

ALBANY, N.Y. – Fresh off securing hosting rights for the America East Tournament, the UAlbany men's lacrosse team has returned to host Yale to conclude the 2017 Spring Stomp on Saturday, April 22nd at 7 p.m.

The game will be broadcast online on ESPN3, with Chris Watson and Tom Schwann on the call.

Tickets for the game are $10 for adults and $7 for kids in bleacher seating areas. Gold Level chairback seating will be available for $15. For ticket information for Wednesday’s game and all other remaining home games, visit or call the UAlbany ticket office directly at 518-442-DANE.

UAlbany stands in the top-5 in each the USILA Coaches Poll and the Inside Lacrosse Media Poll, the highest rankings of the year for the team.  Yale stands at #12 in the coaches poll and #11 in the media poll.  In each of the last two meetings, each UAlbany and Yale have been ranked in the top-12.

This game features two teams that are undefeated in their respective conferences.  UAlbany, which earned a share of the America East season title on Wednesday with a 10-4 victory at Binghamton, is 10-2 overall and 5-0 in its league.  Yale has won seven consecutive games, coming off a 18-12 win vs. Brown last weekend, to enter at 8-3 overall and 5-0 in the Ivy League.

The two played a thriller in New Haven last season, with UAlbany winning 14-13 in overtime.  These two played the first lacrosse game in Casey Stadium in 2015, with UAlbany winning 12-11.  All-time, the series is even 6-6.

UALBANY EARNS SHARE OF 2017 AE REGULAR SEASON TITLE: Standing 5-0 in the America East, UAlbany has earned a share of the league regular season title and will host the conference tournament in May.  It is UAlbany's fifth consecutive America East regular season title and eighth overall.  UAlbany can earn the regular season title outright with a victory over Hartford on April 29th or a UMBC loss to Hartford on April 22nd or Vermont on April 29th.

FIELDS - TOP SCORER IN DIVISION I: Connor Fields stands as the top scorer of Division I, averaging 6.83 points per game and 3.5 goals per game.  He currently totals 82 points off 42 goals and 40 assists.  He is also third in DI with 3.33 assists per game.

Three other UAlbany players stand with at least 27 goals, with Justin Reh having 27 plus 14 assists while Jakob Patterson and Bennett Drake each having 23 goals.

FIELDS RISING UP THE RECORD BOOKS: Connor Fields is continuing to rise in the UAlbany record books in goals, assists and points.

On a season basis, his 66 goals in 2015 were second-most in UAlbany history and a freshman NCAA Division I record.  The two-time USILA All-American and Inside Lacrosse Preseason All-American also has two of the top-15 seasons in points in UAlbany history.

NEW STARTERS DOMINATING: UAlbany players entering starting roles for the first game are ranking among the top in Division I.  A first-year starting goalkeeper, JD Colarusso is ninth in DI with a 57.2% save rate, allowing just 8.49 goals per game and holding an 10-2 record.

Freshman faceoff man TD Ierlan is second in DI on the X at 71.5%, winning at least 70% in nine games, and first with 11.33 ground balls per game.  At attack, freshman Jakob Patterson has 23 goals, including a pair of four-goal games.

UALBANY #5 IN COACHES POLL, #5 IN MEDIA POLL: In the week ten polls of the season, UAlbany went up one spot in the USILA Coaches Poll to #5 and held in the Inside Lacrosse Maverik Media Poll at #5.

UAlbany has been in the top-15 of each poll since the start of the season.  The Great Danes have been ranked in the top-16 of both polls each week since May 2, 2014.

In the preseason, UAlbany was #13 in the coaches poll and #13 in the media poll.  It is the fourth consecutive year that UAlbany has ranked in the top-13 in the preseason.

PLAYING THE BEST: In its 2017 14-game regular season, UAlbany is set to take on four reigning conference champions, including three ranked in the top-10 in the preseason polls.

UAlbany is set to take on league champions Syracuse, Maryland, Yale and Hartford, with the last three being home games.

SCOUTING THE YALE BULLDOGS: Yale stands as the two-time defending Ivy League Tournament champion.

Second in the NCAA in points per game is at 5.6 is junior attack Ben Reeves, combining for 28 goals and 28 assists.  Freshman attack Matt Gaudet has 26 goals while sophomore Joseph Sessa has seven goals and 26 assists.  At the faceoff-X is junior Conor Mackie, winning 60.5% with 94 ground balls.

The primary player defending the cage is junior Phil Huffard, who in eight starts has a 9.55 goals allowed average and a 52.5% save rate.  Junior Jerry O'Connor stands at close defense with 14 ground balls and seven caused turnovers.
