BALTIMORE – Two UAlbany players, Connor Fieldsand Stone Sims, have been named 2017 Inside Lacrosse Face-Off Preseason All-Americans, the publication announced on Tuesday.
Fields was chosen to the Second Team, and is a preseason All-American for the second straight year, while Sims was placed on the Third Team. UAlbany is the only America East squad with multiple members on the combined First, Second and Third Teams.
Fields was in the top-10 in NCAA Division I in points and goals per game last season, leading the America East Conference with 44 goals and 73 points. The junior was a 2016 Tewaaraton nominee and USILA Third Team All-American, scoring multiple points in 15 of 16 games played.
Sims was honored on the America East All-Conference First Team, his second all-league award, last year as UAlbany’s top close defender. In 15 starts, the junior picked up 16 caused turnovers and 16 ground balls in 2016, plus scored a goal vs. Vermont.
Last season, Fields and Blaze Riorden were chosen as preseason All-Americans by Inside Lacrosse.
