ALBANY, N.Y. — The No. 17-seeded University at Albany women’s golf team is headed to the Auburn Regional of the NCAA Tournament in Opelika, Ala.
The Great Danes’ seed and destination were announced Wednesday, April 24, during the NCAA Tournament Selection Show. The revelation of the 72-team and 24-individual field was broadcast live on the Golf Channel.
UAlbany, which earned its second straight NCAA Tournament bid this past weekend by winning the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championship, will compete at Saugahatchee Country Club for 54 holes from May 6-8.
Duke, of the Atlantic Coast Conference, is the No. 1 seed in the region. From the regional round, 24 teams and 12 individuals advance to the national championships May 17-22 in Fayetteville, Ark.
This marks UAlbany’s third trip to the NCAAs in program history. The Great Danes also reached the tournament in 2015 and 2018.
The Great Danes won the MAAC Championships in Lake Buena Vista, Fla., by 17 strokes. After the event, Head Coach Colleen Cashman-McSween was named the league’s Coach of the Year, and freshman Madison Walker was named Rookie of the Year.
