Golf set to complete fall season at Brown Invitational
ALBANY, N.Y. – The University at Albany women’s golf team wraps up its fall schedule Sunday and Monday at the Brown Bear Fall Invitational in Seekonk, Mass.
The tournament, hosted by Brown, consists of two rounds, each of 18 holes at Ledgemont Country Club, a par-72, 6,123-yard course.
Other schools participating include Appalachian State, Dartmouth, Fairleigh Dickinson, Lehigh, Monmouth, Princeton, Quinnipiac, Siena, St. John’s and Wagner.
“I almost can’t believe this is the last tournament of the Fall,” Head Coach Colleen Cashman-McSween said. “We started out the season on fire, winning our first event, and we are looking to close the season with a strong finish as well. The weather conditions are going to be tough. We already know that ahead of time, so we will be prepared for everything. As I always say, if we stick to our basics of being aggressive on par 5s and reduce our number of 3-putts, I believe we will fare well in this tournament. We haven’t seen this golf course before, so I think that may lessen our expectations off the bat and will hopefully just allow us to go out there and play good golf!”
The Great Danes are coming off this past weekend’s Yale Intercollegiate, where they placed 12th of 17 schools. Helga Einarsdottir led the way for UAlbany, tying for 32nd. She shot a 4-over 75 in the third and final round of the event.
UAlbany has two victories this fall, having defeated Siena in the annual Crosstown Challenge and taken first place in the Dartmouth Invitational.
