Golf Team Predicted To Finish Second In 2018 Poll
ALBANY, N.Y. – The UAlbany golf team has been predicted to finish second in the preseason poll, which forecasted the outcomes for the 2018 spring season. The preseason poll is voted on by the league’s head coaches.
UAlbany had three first place votes in the poll with a total of 66 points. UAlbany was 9 points behind Quinnipiac, who got four first place votes along with 75 points total.
UAlbany head coach Colleen Cashman-McSween is set for her sixth season with the Great Danes. She led the UAlbany Great Danes to win the 2015 MAAC conference title and was named MAAC Women’s coach of the year in the same season. UAlbany finished second in the MAAC Championship last season.
Following UAlbany in the preseason poll was Dayton with 57 points and one first place vote, putting them in the third place slot. Monmouth was predicted to come in fourth with 56 points, followed by Siena who received 47 points. Hartford took sixth place with 43 points and one first place vote, followed by La Salle in seventh place with 23 points. Niagara came in eighth with 22 points and Fairfield came in ninth with 16 points.
UAlbany kicks off the 2018 spring season on Hilton Head Island in South Carolina on Saturday, March 17th at the Woffard Low Country Intercollegiate Golf Championship taking place at Moss Creek Golf Club.
