Helga Einarsdottir has been selected to represent Iceland in the European Team Championship July 11-15 in Montado Resort, Portugal. The Icelandic Golf Association's Sport Director Jussi Pitkänen announced the UAlbany freshman to the highest league. Einarsdottir is one of two rookies on the six-member women's A-national team.

The UAlbany women's golf head coach Colleen Cashman-McSween is very proud of Einarsdottir's accomplishment.

“What an honor it is for Helga to have been selected to represent her country of Iceland at the European Ladies Championship in Portugal. I am very proud of everything that she has accomplished in her short time as a Great Dane. I am really looking forward to her being a leader for our team and a force to be reckoned with in the MAAC Conference,” said Cashman-McSween.

Einarsdottir individually tied third overall at the 2017 MAAC Championship helping lead her team to a second-place overall finish.

“Helga works very hard at her game during the season and has been playing in tournaments every week during the summer as well. Playing in this National European Championship will be such an amazing experience for her. I couldn't be more gratified to have this outstanding student-athlete here at UAlbany,” said Cashman-McSween.
