UAlbany Sports Information   05-05-2017

ALBANY, N.Y.-- The University at Albany Women's Golf head coach, Colleen Cashman-McSween has been awarded a sponsor exemption for next month's Fuccillo Kia Classic of New York, a Symetra Tour event at Capital Hills. On June 2-4 she will compete with 142 professionals for prizes valued at $125,000.

“I'm honored to once again be selected to compete in the Symetra Tour event and be able to represent the University at Albany right here in the Capital Region. The last two years have been a lot of fun having my friends and colleagues come out and watch me play” said Cashman-McSween.

Cashman- McSween has recently completed her fourth year as the UAlbany head coach whose teams have placed with top finishes including a MAAC Championship in 2015. In the 2016-17 season the Great Danes finished second in the MAAC Championship falling to Quinnipiac by only six strokes.

This is Cashman-McSween's third straight year receiving an exemption in the Fuccillo Kia Classic. A former tour player, she has competed in more than 100 professional tournaments on the Futures Tour, the predecessor to the Symetra, and won the 2003 Tampa Bay Next Generation Futures Golf Classic.

“Golf has been such a big part of my life for so long that it's an awesome opportunity to still be able compete on the big stage against the touring pros who do it day in and day out. I'm thankful to Jimmy Miller and Billy Fuccillo for continuously supporting women's professional golf and for allowing me to be a part of such a great event right here in Albany,” said Cashman-McSween.

The Fuccillo Automotive Group announced that they will award the winner of the tournament a 2017 Kia Forte LX in addition to the $18,000 first place prize.
