ALBANY, N.Y. – The UAlbany women’s golf team will play four spring tournaments in 2017, including a competition to Hawaii and two trips to Florida, announced by the team.
“I’m super excited for the opportunities that the team is going to have coming up this spring,” said UAlbany head coach Colleen Cashman-McSween. “In my past three years, we have never taken a Spring Break trip and I am very much looking forward to having the whole team stay and play an event in Tampa to begin the season.”
"Even more impressively, never did I think we would have the opportunity to make a trip to Maui, Hawaii, and I can’t tell you how excited we are to receive the invitation and compete against most of the best teams in the country at Kapalua,” added Cashman-McSween.
UAlbany will look to build upon a strong showing in the fall, including a duel match victory over Siena and a second place finish out of 11 in the Quinnipiac Classic in October.
The team begins its spring season from March 13-14, heading to Dade City, Florida to compete in the inaugural Spring Break Shootout. UAlbany will play three rounds at the Lake Jovita Country Club.
Two weeks later, the Great Danes will head off the contiguous United States to Hawaii to play three rounds in the Anuenue Spring Break Classic. From March 27-29, UAlbany will compete at the Kapalua Golf Club Bay Course in Maui.
From April 14-15, the squad goes east to Connecticut for the Sacred Heart Women’s Invitational. Two rounds of play will take place at the Great River Golf Club in Milford.
The next weekend, UAlbany will look to reclaim the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference title in the league championship from April 21-23 in Disney World. UAlbany will compete against 13 other teams at Disney’s Magnolia Golf Course in Lake Buena Vista in an effort to earn its second MAAC title, winning its first in 2015.
