THE REMATCH
On a late October evening, the Vermont Catamounts traveled to Albany, N.Y. to face off against the Great Danes in the Conference Tournament Quarterfinals. It did not help either team that it was snowing earlier than normal for this part of the Northeast.

UAlbany's then-senior forward Katie Grant scored the match's first goal in the 10th minute and the score stood at 1-0 going into the half. Vermont's Ellie Mills scored the equalizing goal in the 72nd minute to force overtime.

After a scoreless first OT, Shayla Bergeron did something magical on that snowy afternoon. Bergeron took the ball at midfield and dribbled through four defenders to score the game-winning goal to push UAlbany to the Conference Semifinals.

TRICKS IN HER BAG
Shayla Bergeron recorded two hat tricks on the season. Bergeron shined on senior day to lead the Great Danes to a 4-1 win over UMBC. On Sept. 2, the senior forward went on to score the program's first single-game hat-trick against UNC-Asheville, in the 6-3 rout. Bergeron just needed six shots to accomplish the feat to help the Great Danes win their first game of the season on the road.

CONFERENCE ACCOLADES
Shayla Bergeron was honored as America East Conference Player of the Week twice this season. Bergeron helped lead the Great Danes to two victories including a 4-3 win over Canisius and a 5-2 victory over Cornell. She tallied four goals and two assists over the two-game span. Then this past week, the senior forward tallied a hat trick on senior day against UMBC and recorded a goal and an assist vs. Maine to secure a conference tournament spot.

PRESEASON PICKED THIRD
UAlbany was chosen to finish third in the America East. Seventh year head coach Mary-Frances Monroe and the Great Danes had a great run in the second half the season, finishing with a 7-1-1 record and their first trip to the America East Conference Tournament finals in program history.
