UAlbany Women Look for Third Straight Win Over Siena in Crosstown-Rivalry

1. The Game
UAlbany is visiting Siena in the seventh game of 2012. Siena leads the series, 10-5, but UAlbany has won the last two games. The Great Danes’ head coach, Katie Abrahamson-Henderson, will look to stay undefeated against the Saints, as Siena’s last victory came the season before Coach Abe took over at the helm. UAlbany fell to the Saints, 65-61, in overtime in 2009-10.

2. Scouting UAlbany
The Great Danes stand at 4-2 on the young season, after defeating NJIT, 76-41, on Wednesday. Center Megan Craig, who currently leads the team in scoring with 12.3 points per game, scored a career-high 27 points against Dartmouth, en route to earning her first America East Player of the Week honor. Julie Forster chips in with 9.3 points and a team-high 9.5 rebounds per game, while Lindsey Lowrie adds 8.8 points, and has gone 14-of-32 from beyond the 3-point line so far this season. Two-time defending Defensive Player of the Year Ebone Henry has continued to show why she has earned that title, as she leads the Great Danes with 18 steals over five games, while also scoring at a 10.2 clip.

3. Scouting Siena
The Saints have been led this season by senior forward and captain Lily Grenci. A Preseason First Team All-MAAC selection, she currently ranks tied for fifth in the MAAC in scoring (14.6) and third in rebounding (9.2). Siena fell to Seton Hall, 57-48, in the team’s last outing. The Saints’ wins this season have come over Fairleigh Dickinson & Binghamton.

4. Road Warriors
Tonight’s game kicks off a seven-game road stretch for the Great Danes that spans from Dec. 1 to Jan. 15. Over the course of the month and a half, UAlbany will travel over 8,260 miles, visiting Philadelphia, Buffalo, Dover, Del., Long Beach, Calif., Baltimore, and Binghamton.

5. Great Dane Captains
UAlbany has four captains this season - seniors Ebone Henry, Julie Forster, Lindsey Lowrie and Keyana Williams. This group of student-athletes has been crucial in the turnaround of the Great Dane program, and will exhibit great leadership on and off the court.
