UAlbany And Stony Brook's Men's Basketball Season-Finale Contest Chosen For ESPN3
CAMBRIDGE, Mass.- The America East Conference designated the last conference match-ups between UAlbany-Stony Brook, Vermont-Hartford, New Hampshire-Maine, and Binghamton-UMBC on Sunday, March 3 as a potential wildcard game to be viewed on ESPN3. The conference office chose the in-state rivalry match-up between the Great Danes and the Seawolves as the most appealing to be featured on ESPN3 at 2 p.m.
Ed Cohen and Frank Sullivan will have the call in Stony Brook, N.Y. between the upcoming conference tournament's current number one seed Stony Brook (19-6, 10-2 America East) and number three seed UAlbany (19-8, 8-5 America East). The Seawolves hold a narrow 7-6 lead in the all-time series at Pritchard Gym against the Great Danes.
The Great Danes hosted the Seawolves earlier this season in the SEFCU Arena on ESPN3 with Stony Brook getting the better of UAlbany, 65-49, on Tuesday, Jan. 29.
UAlbany's record on the road is 9-3 and hold opponents to 61.3 points per game. The Great Danes' Mike Black (14.5 ppg), Jacob Iati (12.0 ppg), and Sam Rowley (10.1 ppg) all average double-figures on the road. Rowley averages close to a double-double on the road, grabbing 7.4 rebounds on top of his 10.1 points per game.
Before UAlbany and Stony Brook face off, UAlbany has three games to play, two conference and one non-conference, beginning with Boston U. on Wednesday, Feb. 20 at Case Gym. Tip-off slated for 7 p.m.
