Brown and Co. Look To Continue Their Hot Streak Versus South Carolina State
The Starting Five
1. Home-And-Home Series Finale
UAlbany and South Carolina State wrap-up its home-and-home series on Wednesday, Dec. 12 at SEFCU Arena. The Great Danes defeated South Carolina State earlier this season by a 28-point margin in Orangeburg, S.C., 83-55. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:08 p.m. and will be shown on Time Warner Cable SportsChannel. The game can be seen in the Albany region on channel 50 (SD) or 1803 (HD), South Carolina's channel 520, Hudson Valley's 413 (SD) or 461 (HD), Syracuse's 1026, Rochester's 98, and Buffalo's 87.
2. Five In A Row
The Great Danes have now strung along a modest five-game winning streak, beginning with the Bulldogs on Nov. 20. The five-game winning streak is the longest streak since the 2008-09 season. UAlbany has averaged just over 72 points a game during its stretch, while holding opponents to a season-low 61.6 points.
3. Iati's Hot Hand
Fifth-year senior guard Jacob Iati is just getting warmed up to begin the 2012-13 season. Through 10 games, Iati has hit 34 three's which stands 5th best in the nation. He is not just shooting bad three's, as his 45.9 percent shooting percentage (34-74) shows that he is shooting from where he knows he can make them (26th in the nation). The York, Pa. native has hit at least one three-pointer in 18-straight games.
4. A "Hambone"
A Hambone is defined as four-consecutive strikes in bowling. UAlbany did just that, defeating all four of its non-conference New York schools in a row to prove its state supremacy. It began with a home win over NEC's Wagner, then a decisive win over crosstown rival Siena, and finished up with wins over St. Francis (Brooklyn) and at Colgate.
5. Movin' On Up
Going a perfect 2-0 this past week and stringing along five straight wins, the Great Danes were honored by being bumped three spots to No. 22 in the Top-25 College Insider's Mid-Major poll on Monday, Dec. 10. The 22nd spot is the highest in-season ranking UAlbany has received since entering Division I.
