Track & Field Adds Two
ALBANY, N.Y. – Following an incoming recruiting class of 32 individuals, the University at Albany has announced two additional recruits who will join the program for the upcoming season.
Lynda Brundige is a transfer from Detroit Mercy who will help bolster the women’s sprint and jump programs. Her personal bests include 12.98 in the 100m, 24.80 in the 200m, 17-11.00 in the long jump, and 38-06.00 in the triple jump. She placed fourth in the triple jump at the 2017 Horizon League Indoor Championships, and attended high school at Hutchinson Central Technical in Buffalo, N.Y.
Victor Ortiz Rivera, who has already competed once as a member of the cross country team, arrives with personal bests of 3:51.97 in the 1,500m, 14:47.84 in the 5,000m, 32:25.10 in the 10,000m, and 8:59.11 in the 3,000m steeplechase. In cross country, Ortiz Rivera holds a personal best of 31:53.6. He previously attended Universidad de Puerto Rico-Río Piedras where he was the 2017 Puerto Rico collegiate national champion in the 5,000m. Ortiz Rivera also represented Puerto Rico in the 2017 Junior Pan American Games in Peru.
The cross country team will compete in its next race on September 22 in the Coast-to-Cost Battle in Beantown hosted by Boston College in Boston’s Franklin Park. The indoor track season will begin in early December.
