ALBANY, N.Y. – Jamal Robinson, who just completed his senior season with the University at Albany football program, and Carol Stenger, director of the school’s Advocacy Center for Sexual Violence, were invited attendees of the State of the State address Wednesday.

Robinson had volunteered at the Advocacy Center this past semester as part of its Student Violence Ambassador Program.

He and Stenger were invited to the speech by Gov. Andrew Cuomo for their work supporting the goals of “Enough is Enough,” the 2015 state law that aims to reduce sexual violence on campus.

UAlbany’s Advocacy Center, which opened in 2014, is the first standalone center to serve sexual-violence victims on a SUNY campus. It provides a safe and welcoming environment for students to receive support and advocacy services in the aftermath of sexual violence.

Robinson, a native of Mitchellville, Md., who plans to pursue a career in criminal justice, was the winner of the football program's Todd J. Clark Memorial Award, given annually to a student-athlete for exceptional leadership, selflessness and courage.
