UAlbany Men's Basketball Honored with NABC Team Academic Excellence Award
ALBANY, N.Y. – The UAlbany men’s basketball team has been honored with the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Team Academic Excellence Award for the second straight season.
It is the third season that UAlbany has earned this award in the six seasons since the honor’s inception. UAlbany first picked up the honor in the 2013-14 season.
“I am proud of the student-athletes in our program for their continued success in the classroom and on the court,” said UAlbany head coach Will Brown. “To be recognized by the NABC for our academic achievements is a tremendous honor. We have great young men in our program who really value their education. I would like to thank my staff, our Academic Support Office, and our athletic department administration for their commitment to our student-athletes. We will continue to strive for excellence on the court and in the classroom.”
UAlbany earns this award for having a team cumulative GPA of 3.0. All players who were on the roster in the 2017-18 season must combine for the cumulative GPA.
In addition, UAlbany players Joe Cremo and David Nichols were named to the NABC Honors Court, each for the second straight year. Eligible players have to be junior or senior academic standing with at least a 3.2 GPA. It is the fourth year that UAlbany has placed multiple players on the Honors Court.
