Nichols, Cremo Named NBC Sports Preseason Mid-Major All-Americans

ALBANY, N.Y. – The leaders in the backcourt for UAlbany men’s basketball have been honored as NBC Sports Mid-Major Preseason All-Americans.

NBC Sports has selected David Nichols as a Mid-Major Preseason All-American Third Team, while Joe Cremo is an Honorable Mention Preseason All-American.

In addition, NBC Sports has ranked UAlbany #14 in the mid-major rankings while has UAlbany at #18.  NBC Sports is chosen by writer Raphielle Johnson while the rankings are voted on by coaches across the country.

Each Nichols and Cremo were selected to the America East Preseason All-Conference Team two weeks ago.

Nichols earned America East All-Conference First Team honors last season, being the first UAlbany sophomore to earn that distinction.  He finished fourth in the America East with 17.9 points per game, sixth with 1.2 steals per game and eighth with 3.2 assists per game, scoring in double digits in 33 contests.

Cremo was placed on the America East All-Conference Second Team last year, being ninth in the America East with 15.8 points per game and sixth with 3.8 assists per game.  He scored in double figures in 30 games, including four double doubles, and led the league with an 86.9% free throw rate.

As a team, UAlbany finished 21-14 last season, including a victory over Penn State, earning a spot in the America East title game and a berth in the Tournament.  UAlbany has been predicted to finish second in the America East in the preseason coaches poll.
