ALBANY, N.Y. – The University at Albany field hockey program has announced the signings of Kelsey McCrudden, a midfielder from Yorktown Heights, N.Y., and Elaina Burchell, a forward/midfielder from Whitney Point, N.Y.

“We are super excited to welcome Elaina and Kelsey to the Great Dane Family,” UAlbany Head Coach Phil Sykes said. “They both possess a high skill level and will bring a strong intellect and toughness to our team. This past high school season they both won New York State Championships and were named All-Americans. Kelsey comes from the ‘Hudson Valley’ club team and legendary coach Sharon Sarsen, while Elaina plays for ‘True North’ and coach Jeff Harding, who was a former NHL and Team Canada ice hockey player. Our future looks brighter with the addition of these two.”

McCrudden compiled 32 goals and 22 assists as a senior for Lakeland High School, which finished 22-0 on its way to a state title.

A two-time All-State honoree in field hockey and the Journal News Player of the Year in 2017, McCrudden was a four-sport athlete at Lakeland, earning 14 varsity letters – six in lacrosse, five in field hockey, two in basketball and one in bowling.

Burchell totaled 105 goals and 60 assists during her career at Whitney Point, where she was a four-time member of the Section IV and All-State teams. She helped Whitney Point to four consecutive Class C state championships

Burchell was a three-sport athlete in high school, competing in field hockey and lacrosse for four years and basketball for three.

The Great Danes finished this past season 12-7 overall and 6-2 in America East play, reaching the conference semifinals.
