Short Story: The UAlbany baseball team drops the series rubber match at James Madison.

Coach Mueller: "It was exciting to see the young guys get on the field for the first time.  We had better at bats today but credit JMU for keeping us at bay.  Overall I am pleased with the weekend and the hope is we continue to play sound defense fundamentally and the offense will come around."

  • Connor Powers hit 3-4 with two doubles and one RBI
  • John Clayton got the start for UAlbany, lasting 3.2 innings, allowing six hits with one strikeout and two walks

How it happened

  • For the third straight game, UAlbany got on the board first, scoring one run in the top of the fourth
  • Connor Powers hit a leadoff double and advanced to third when Marc Wangenstein flied out to left center
  • Travis Collins grounded out to first, allowing Powers to cross the plate from third
  • James Madison scored twice in the bottom of the inning to take a 2-1 lead
  • The Dukes added two more runs in the bottom the fifth
  • UAlbany scored once in the top of the sixth when Powers hit a double to right scoring Brad Malm from second with one out
  • James Madison added two insurance runs in the bottom of the eighth to secure the 6-2 victory
