Short Story: Manhattan comes back twice against UAlbany to hand the Great Danes a mid-week loss ahead of their upcoming seven-game homestand.

Coach Mueller: "It was good to get out and play after the week off.  We came out on the short end of this one today.  We will turn all of our focus on the upcoming conference weekend."

  • Angelo Spedafino lasted 2.0 innings, allowing no runs on two hits with one strikeout
  • J.T. Genovese pitched 2.2 innings, allowing two runs on two hits with one strikeout
  • Connor Takacs pitched 2.1 innings, allowing two runs on three hits with one strikeout
  • Brenden Cournoyer pitched 1.0 innings, allowing one hit with one strikeout
  • Matt Codispoti hit 2-3 with a walk, two doubles, and two runs scored

How it happened

  • UAlbany scored first with two runs in the top of the fourth inning.  Connor Powers worked a leadoff walk, and advanced to third when Matt Codispoti hit a ground-rule double to left center.  Two batters later, Travis Collins hit a two-RBI double to right center, scoring Powers and Codispoti.
  • Manhattan tied the game a two in the bottom of the fifth
  • UAlbany responded immediately, retaking the lead with one run in the top of the sixth.  Codispoti hit a leadoff double, and advanced to third when Ryan Hernandez grounded out to second.  Following a Manhattan pitching change, Collins was hit by a pitch, and then pulled off a double-steal with Codispoti, allowing Codispoti to score by stealing home plate.
  • Manhattan took a 4-3 lead with two runs in the bottom of the seventh
  • Collins worked a leadoff walk in the bottom of the ninth, but Manhattan was able to turn a double play and force a fly out to end the game
