NEW ORLEANS – For the third straight week, the University at Albany track & field program remained unmoved in the Northeast regional poll, the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association announced Monday. The men and women both retained their sixth and eighth ranking, respectively.

Syracuse remained atop the men’s poll once again, followed by Army West Point and Rhode Island who were also unchanged from last week. Connecticut and Northeastern swapped positions to fourth and fifth, respectively. Connecticut and Manhattan were the only teams to improve this week, each jumping one spot. UMass Lowell held steady at 11th, while UMBC, in the Mid-Atlantic poll, dropped one spot to 12th.

The top four in the women’s poll, Cornell, Harvard, Dartmouth, and Syracuse, were unchanged from last week. Connecticut jumped to spots to fifth, matching Buffalo for the biggest improvement week-to-week. No other America East teams earned a spot in this week’s poll.

The men added one new Northeast top-eight performance over the weekend, bringing the season total to 14. Victor Ortiz Rivera now ranks eighth in the 3,000m steeplechase with his freshman record performance of 9:03.65.

The women also added one new regional top-eight mark, for a season total of eight. Hannah Reinhardt ranks sixth in the 5,000m in 16:27.29.

Next, any Great Danes with qualifying performances will compete at the University of South Florida for the NCAA East Preliminary Championships starting May 24.
