PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Another impromptu schedule change for the University at Albany baseball team (7-6) saw the Great Danes pay a quick visit to Brown (4-6) on Tuesday for one game in place of the doubleheader against Saint Peter’s the team lost due to unplayable field conditions.  UAlbany fell by a score of 13-5, bringing the Danes’ three-game winning streak to a close.

UAlbany almost immediately found itself facing a significant deficit, giving up five runs in the bottom of the first inning, and four more runs in the bottom of the fourth.  A scoreless third gave way to two more Brown runs in the bottom of the fourth.

The Great Danes finally scored in the top of the sixth inning, bringing the score to 11-1.  Marc Wangenstein hit a single to second that brought in Kyle Sacks, who had just stolen third base, to score.  In the bottom of the inning, Brown scored again to bring their lead back to 11.  UAlbany scored one in the top of the seventh when Eric Mueller hit an RBI single with the bases loaded.

Brown scored once more to bring their total to 13 for the afternoon.  UAlbany’s rally effort in the top of the ninth brought home three more runs, but ultimately fell short.  With runners on first and third, Patrick Lagravinese hit a bases-clearing double to right center, and later scored himself on a groundout from Evan Harasta.  The game closed with a final score of 13-5 in favor of Brown.

Travis Collins recorded three hits for UAlbany to lead the Great Danes on the day.  Wangenstein and Kevin Donati also had multi-hit days.  Lagravinese led with two RBIs.
