Women’s Basketball Visits New Hampshire

UAlbany Sports Information   01-10-2017

ALBANY, N.Y. – The University at Albany women’s basketball program has opened the America East schedule with two consecutive victories, over UMass Lowell and Stony Brook, both of which came at SEFCU Arena.  The team will now hit the road for the first time in conference play to visit New Hampshire.

Against Stony Brook, the Great Danes pulled off a 10-point victory thanks in part to junior Jessica Féquière’s career-high 24 points.  It was Féquière’s second straight 20-point game, and her efforts against the Riverhawks and the Seawolves earned her a second America East Player of the Week award.

New Hampshire has only played one game in the America East so far, a 49-46 victory over Stony Brook where the Wildcats scored only two points in the first quarter and trailed the Seawolves 25-10 at halftime.  However, the Wildcats and Great Danes share more common opponents than any team UAlbany has faced so far this season.

UAlbany now finds itself in a tie atop the America East standings with Binghamton, who also has a 2-0 conference record.  New Hampshire has the best overall record in the America East at 11-3.

The Great Danes will only spend one game on the road before returning home on Monday, January 16 to host UMBC.
