UAlbany Sports Information   06-01-2018

ALBANY, N.Y. – The UAlbany women’s soccer team has announced its schedule for the 2018 campaign, including an eight-game home slate.

UAlbany is set for a 19-game regular season schedule, including eight home games at Tom & Mary Casey Stadium and a full America East slate.

"It's easy to get excited about our 2018 schedule,” said UAlbany head coach Nick Bochette. “We will be preparing for our America East schedule against some of the very best teams in the country, including teams from the Pac-12, ACC, Ivy League, and the CAA. This challenging slate of games will challenge all facets of our game and aid in our development as we continue to evolve as a team."

The Great Danes will compete against teams from 10 different conferences and play in seven different states.  UAlbany will have games against 10 teams that won at least nine games in 2017.

Last season, UAlbany earned a top-4 spot in the America East for the fourth straight season, winning its final three regular season games to finish tied for third in the league at 4-3-1 and 6-11-1 overall in the first season under Bochette.  UAlbany has hosted at least one game in the America East Tournament the past four years, including winning the 2015 and 2016 tournament titles.

10 starters return for UAlbany, including defending America East Defender of the Year Caroline Kopp and fellow America East All-Conference First Team member Gina Bracamonte in the midfield.

The team begins its season in the Grand Canyon State for a couple of games at the University of Arizona.  First, UAlbany opens the year vs. Arizona, a 2017 NCAA Second Round team, on Friday, August 17th at 10 p.m. ET (7 p.m. in Arizona) and vs. New Mexico State on Sunday, August 19th at 3 p.m. ET (12 p.m. in Arizona).

The road start continues with the next two games: UAlbany visits Boston College on Wednesday, August 22nd at 5 p.m., then goes the other direction to Hamilton, New York for a contest at Colgate on Sunday, August 26th at 1 p.m.

The next five contests are in the Capital District, including four games at Casey Stadium.  The home opener is set for Friday, August 31st at 4 p.m. vs, Iona, then two days later, the Great Danes host Buffalo at 1 p.m.  After a trip to Loudonville to play crosstown rival Siena on Thursday, September 6th at 4 p.m., the team plays two more home games, vs. Rhode Island on Sunday, September 9th at 1 p.m. and vs. CAA finalist Northeastern on Thursday, September 13th at 7 p.m.

UAlbany wraps up non-conference play with two road games against Ivy League participants, at Dartmouth on Sunday, September 16th at 1 p.m. and at Cornell on Tuesday, September 18th at 7 p.m.

The Great Danes kick off America East play by hosting the defending conference champion Stony Brook on Thursday, September 27th at 7 p.m.  Following a road contest at UMass Lowell on Sunday, September 30th at 5 p.m., UAlbany returns to Casey Stadium to play Vermont, a rematch of last year’s America East Quarterfinal, on Thursday, October 4th at 7 p.m.

On the road go the Great Danes for the next two contests, playing at Maine on Sunday, October 7th at a time to be determined, followed by playing at Hartford on Thursday, October 11th at 7 p.m.

UAlbany wraps up its regular season home schedule with two more games, hosting New Hampshire on Sunday, October 14th at 2 p.m. and UMBC on Thursday, October 18th at 7 p.m.  America East play concludes with a contest at Binghamton on Sunday, October 21st at 1 p.m.

The 2018 America East Tournament will include the six teams with the best conference records, with the top two earning a bye into the semifinals.  All games are hosted by the higher seed in that contest.  The America East Quarterfinals will be on Thursday, October 25th, followed by the semifinal round on Sunday, October 28th.  The America East title game will be on either Saturday, November 3rd or Sunday, November 4th.
