ALBANY, N.Y. – University at Albany women’s basketball team members Lucia Decortes and Helene Haegerstrand will compete for their respective countries in the upcoming FIBA U20 European Basketball Championships, set for Aug. 3-11 in Klatovy, Czech Republic. Additionally, Amanda Kantzy has been selected to the Swedish Future National Team.
“We are so proud of Amanda, Lucia, and Helene,” said head coach Colleen Mullen. “It’s truly an honor for Helene and Lucia to have been selected to their respective national teams and for Amanda to be selected as a participant on the Swedish Future National Team. It is an opportunity of a lifetime to represent your country and compete on a world stage. We are excited to follow their successes this summer!”
Decortes will compete for Team Italy in Division A while Haegerstrand will play for Team Sweden, also in Division A. Team Italy opens play against the Netherlands on Saturday, Aug. 3 while Team Sweden gets underway on Sunday, Aug. 4 against host Czech Republic.
Haegerstrand and Team Sweden will compete in Group C with Czech Republic, Poland, and Russia. Decortes and Team Italy is placed in Group D along with France, Netherlands and Germany.

Kantzy and the Swedish Future National Team will participate in training camp beginning on Aug. 5 in Lund, Sweden. The squad will round out training camp with an international match against Denmark on Aug. 11.
