Women's Basketball America East Slate Announced
ALBANY, N.Y. – The University at Albany women’s basketball team tips off the America East schedule shortly after the New Year with back-to-back home games against Vermont on January 2 and Binghamton on January 5. Following the first of two byes, the Great Danes will visit defending conference champion Maine on January 11.
Home games against New Hampshire and Stony Brook lead into a two-game road trip that culminates in the first of two rematches of the 2018-19 America East semifinal against Hartford. The game on January 25 will take place on the Hawks’ home court.
A single home game on January 29 against UMBC breaks up a stretch in which the Great Danes will play four of five games on the road, leading into the team’s second bye. The second game against Hartford, this time at SEFCU Arena, will be played on February 8, immediately following the second bye.
The Great Danes welcome Maine on February 15 for National Girls & Women In Sports Day before ending the regular season with three of four games on the road, culminating February 29 with a trip to Stony Brook. The regular-season home finale will immediately precede the game against the Seawolves, on February 26 against UMass Lowell.
“America East conference play is going to prove to be another challenge this year,” said women’s head coach Colleen Mullen. “Many teams are returning multiple starters and valuable experience, and some have also welcomed new coaching staffs. I anticipate another competitive season with a lot of parity across the board. Every game will be a battle as we all fight to finish in the top four and position ourselves to host a first round game in the America East Tournament.”
Times for all games will be announced at a later date.
