UAlbany Sports Information   07-31-2019

ALBANY, N.Y. – The University at Albany football program will host its annual "Pink Game" at 3:30 p.m. on Sept. 28 against William & Mary to support The American Cancer Society. This game gives the community a unique opportunity to honor a loved one who has been impacted by any type of cancer. By making a donation of $50, one can honor someone by having his or her name displayed on the name plate of a UAlbany football player’s jersey. In addition, this donation will include two (2) game tickets.

Tribute Jersey donations must be submitted before Sept. 6, 2019.

The UAlbany athletic department planned this game in support of its athletic director, Mark Benson, who has committed to taking a stand against breast cancer throughout the American Cancer Society’s 2019 Real Men Wear Pink Campaign.

“I’m excited to be a part of the Real Men Wear Pink Campaign," Benson said. “We enjoy a great relationship with the American Cancer Society through the annual Coaches v Cancer event. Unfortunately, cancer touches everyone. I’m pleased to be joined by other UAlbany Head Coaches in our support for the Real Men Wear Pink Campaign and forming the UAlbany Athletics Real Men Wear Pink team.”

Lizzie Hunter of the American Cancer Society added “In addition to wearing pink every day in October and raising awareness about breast cancer, these men will be raising funds to help the American Cancer Society save more lives from breast cancer. Funds raised allow the Society to help save lives from breast cancer through early detection and prevention, innovative breast cancer research, and patient support.”
