Cashman-McSween Set to Compete in CDPHP Open
ALBANY, N.Y. — University at Albany women’s golf coach Colleen Cashman-McSween will compete in the 2019 CDPHP Open, an LPGA Symetra Tour Event, beginning Friday, July 26, at Capital Hills Golf Course in Albany, N.Y.
This marks the fifth straight year Cashman-McSween, the Great Danes’ three-time Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Coach of the Year, has competed in the event with a sponsor’s exemption.
She will tee off from the first hole at 12:52 Friday afternoon and from the 10th hole at 7:52 Saturday morning.
"I’m really excited to be teeing it up in the Symetra Tour event this week once again and representing UAlbany!” Cashman-McSween said. “It’s always a challenge playing against these 20-something-year-olds, many that I have recruited, to see how I can still compete with them. I have a full time job that I love these days, but I certainly think about my past life of playing golf day in and day out in a new city every week, traveling with your friends often. However, I won’t be quitting my day job anytime soon!
“I hope lots of people can come out and watch me compete this weekend. This is going to be a special weekend, because I flew my mom into town for the event, and she hasn’t seen me play since 2006. Good times!”
This past season, Cashman-McSween led UAlbany to a second straight MAAC title and NCAA Regional. The Great Danes have won three league championships in Cashman-McSween’s six seasons.
The Symetra Tour, a developmental tour for the LPGA, is now in its 39th season. It has held a tournament at Capital Hills for each of the past 16 years.
