ALBANY, N.Y. – Rising junior Katie MacCallum of the UAlbany field hockey team tallied pair of goals as the Scotland U21 squad defeated Ukraine, 4-1, in the semi-final of U21 EuroHockey Championship II this past weekend.

With the win, Scotland earned a place in the finals where they will compete for a gold medal against Italy. Additionally, Scotland has gained promotion to the A-Division in two years’ time.

MacCallum opened the scoring in the 13th minute, as the Edinburg, Scotland native sent a strike from a clinical short corner to make it 1-0. Ukraine later knotted the score, 1-1, but MacCallum proved to be the difference maker once again as her top D corner strike made it a 2-1 contest.

Scotland would score its final two goals in the second half to solidify the squads’ 4-1 victory.

MacCallum appeared in 21 games for UAlbany as a sophomore during the 2018 season, making 20 starts while scoring two goals and recording five assists.  As a freshman, MacCallum scored 12 goals with five assists, earning America East All-Rookie and NFHCA All-Northeast Second Team honors.
