Women's Golf Unveils 2019 Fall Schedule

UAlbany Sports Information   07-11-2019

ALBANY, N.Y. — The University at Albany women’s golf program has announced a five-tournament fall schedule that includes the annual Crosstown Challenge against Siena College and a return to the Dartmouth Invitational, which the Great Danes won in 2018.

“The thought process is always to get the best tournaments on the schedule that we can,” said Colleen Cashman-McSween, UAlbany’s head coach. “This is going to be by far the most difficult Fall that we’ve played.”

UAlbany, coming off a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference championship and NCAA Regional appearance last season, opens play Sunday, Sept. 8, with the 18-hole event against Siena at Wolferts Roost Country Club in Albany, N.Y.

The Great Danes then play three more tournaments in September: the Dartmouth Invitational (Sept. 14-15), the Boston College Intercollegiate (Sept. 23-24) and the Princeton University Invitational (Sept. 28-29). UAlbany captured the Dartmouth Invitational last season, shooting 4-under par.

“We always love going there,” Cashman-McSween said. “The golf course suits us perfectly. And then going to Boston College, we feel like that’s a course that suits us well, too. It’s going to be an exciting Fall. We know there are some tournaments where we have a chance to finish at the top of the leaderboard, and then we know the events where it’s going to be more of a struggle. But the challenge is what we look forward to. There’s no reason not to go to every event and think we can finish in the top three or four.”

The Fall schedule concludes Oct. 19-20 at the Delaware Lady Blue Hen Invitational at Rehobeth Beach Country Club.
