Walker, Einarsdottir named WGCA All-American Scholars

ALBANY, N.Y. — University at Albany golfers Madison Walker and Helga Einarsdottir have been named Women’s Golf Coaches Association All-American Scholars, the WGCA announced Monday, July 8.

Walker, an Environmental and Sustainable Engineering major, had a standout freshman season that included a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Co-Rookie of the Year honor. The resident of Bermuda Dunes, Calilf., has a cumulative grade-point average of 3.96 through her first two semesters.

Einarsdottir, a rising senior from Seltjarnarnes, Iceland, who was second overall at the MAAC championships, has a GPA of 3.80. An Accounting major, she was named to the MAAC All-Academic team in the spring.

Walker and Einarsdottir are two of the 1,097 women’s collegiate golfers being honored as WGCA All-American Scholars. The criteria for selection included a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.50.

As a team, the Great Danes posted a 3.62 GPA this past semester.
