Great Danes fans, in honor of the University at Albany’s 175th anniversary celebration, we are excited to announce that select tickets for the University at Albany’s men’s basketball game on February 23 will be available for a special promotional price of $1.75 each.
Saturday’s game features a rematch with the defending America East champion UMBC Retrievers. The UAlbany players will wear special throwback jerseys as part of the anniversary celebration. For one night only, the program’s mascot will be “Pedwin the Penguin,” who predated the Great Dane, and the team’s nickname will be the Pedagogues. Eight of the game-worn jerseys are available to fans through an online auction. Bidding on uniforms starts at $175, and bids are made through the Live Source mobile app.
UAlbany began celebrating its anniversary in January with its "Unleash Greatness" brand launch. Founded as the Normal School in 1844, UAlbany became the New York State College for Teachers in 1914, and it kept the name until becoming a university in 1962. The University will be celebrating its history throughout the calendar year 2019.
Saturday’s game will additionally feature free rally towels for the first 1,750 fans in attendance, as well as a special halftime performance by world-famous entertainer Volta Wheel.
Only 175 tickets are available at the special $1.75 promotional price. Once all 175 are sold, ticket prices will return to their regular game-day rates.
The special promotion goes on sale Monday, February 18 at 10:00 a.m. and can be purchased here.
