BOSTON – University at Albany redshirt freshman Adam Lulka has been named America East Rookie of the Week for men’s basketball, the conference offices announced Monday. It is Lulka’s first-ever weekly award, and the fourth for a Great Dane this season, following fellow freshmen Cameron Healy, who has been named twice, and Antonio Rizzuto, who was named once. Lulka was named alongside Vermont’s Anthony Lamb, who earned Player of the Week recognition.
Lulka, a forward from Sydeny, Australia, averaged 15.0 points and 7.5 rebounds during a week in which UAlbany went 1-1. He scored a career-high 16 points in a loss at home to UMass Lowell, and followed up that effort with a 14-point, 9 rebound performance at Maine. Lulka combined to shoot 15-22 from the floor across both games.
On the season, Lulka is third on the team averaging 9.4 points per game, and ranks seventh in the America East averaging 7.0 rebounds.
UAlbany finishes a two-game road trip Thursday at Stony Brook before closing out the 2018-19 regular season home slate with two at home starting with Throwback Night on Saturday, February 23 against defending America East champion UMBC.
