Great Danes Visit Binghamton For Weekend Matinee

ALBANY, N.Y. — The University at Albany women’s basketball team, who is 5-3 in America East play so far this year, will visit in-state foe Binghamton for a weekend matinee.

A win would push the Great Dane’s win streak to 16 games in the all-time series, in which UAlbany hold a strong 25-13 advantage. 

Propelled by a pair of double-digit scorers, UAlbany got itself back in the win column with a 59-41 rout of New Hampshire on Wednesday afternoon. Forwards Alexi Schecter and Heather Forster combined for 34 points, as the Great Danes improved to 4-0 at home in conference play. 

Kyara Frames is headlining the offense with 11.3 points, 3.2 assists and 1.5 steals per game. Heather Forster ranks second in the league with 7.4 rebounds and is chipping in with 8.2 points per contest. As team, the Great Danes are averaging 52.5 points per game and pulling in 37.0 boards.

Binghamton took down top-ranked Hartford, 73-62, on Wednesday evening to improve to 4-4 in league action. Rebecca Carmody (13.2), Kai Moon (12.8) and Carly Boland (10.9) are leading the Bearcats in scoring, while Carmody sits atop the conference leader board in rebounds per game with 8.0. As a team, Binghamton is totaling 60.9 points but allowing its opponents to average 66.0 points per game.

Last Time

A strong second half performance by the Great Danes lifted the squad to a come-from-behind, 61-56, win against the Bearcats back when the two squad’s met in January. UAlbany was fueled by four double-digit scorers, while the bench combined for a season-high 23 points.

Daily Double

Heather Forster and Alexi Schecter are the only two Great Danes to record double-double this season. Forster is pacing the squad with four, most recently with 10 points and 10 rebounds at Stony Brook on January 23. Schecter first career double-double came against UMBC (20 pts, 12 rbs) on January 19.
