Volleyball Inks Five Newcomers

ALBANY, N.Y. — The UAlbany volleyball team has inked five newcomers who have recently signed their National Letter of Intent (NLI), to officially join the University at Albany athletics family beginning in 2019, announced by the coaching staff this week.

Kamara Kelly, Malea Stanton, Emma Schlagheck, Casey Brown and Cami Eder have committed to UAlbany during the early signing period this month.

Kamara Kelly | Outside Hitter | 6’0 | Jacksonville, Fla. | Providence High School

High School: Earned five varsity letters at Providence high school, accumulating 1,842 kills, 942 digs and 168 aces … five-time All-First Coast Volleyball First Team selection (2014-2018) … led her team to four district titles (2014, 2015, 2017, 2018) and three regional championships (2013, 2017, 2018) … tabbed Most Valuable Player on three occasions (2015, 2016, 2017) … member of the Spanish Honor Society, Anchor Club, McKenzie Club, Spirit Club and Environmental Club at Providence High. 

Malea Stanton | Setter | 5’9 | Santa Monica, Calif | Mira Costa High School 

High School: Two-time Bay League All-League selection (2017, 2018) … named to the 2018 Dave Moh’s Memorial All-Tournament team … received the 2018 Mustang Coach’s Award … won three JV League Championships & IBVL Gold Medal titles at Mira Costa High School … four-year member of the indoor and beach volleyball team … lead her team to the 2017 Ann Kang Invitational Championship.

Emma Schlagheck | Opposite Hitter | 6’0 | Northville, Mich. | St. Catherine of Siena Academy

High School: Ranked Michigan’s No. 1 right side hitter of 2018… earned four varsity letters at St. Catherine of Siena Academy … totaled 801 kills, a .369 hitting percentage, 290 digs and 279 blocks during her final three years of high school … tabbed to the JVA Ultra Ankle Watchlist in 2017 and 2018 … lead her team to three District titles (2016-2018) and two Regional Championships (2017-2018) … named to the All-State First Team and received All-Catholic League accolades as a senior, while posting 258 kills and 101 blocks. 

Casey Brown | Outside Hitter | 6’0 | Hendersonville, N.C. | West Henderson High School

High School: Four-year varsity player at West Henderson High … accumulated a 108-11 record … recorded 861 kills, 513 digs, 218 total blocks and 89 aces in her career … tabbed to the 2018 WMAC All-Conference Team and WMAC All-Tournament Team … led her team to the Class 3A State Playoff, the WMCAS Tournament Championship and the Regional Finals as a senior … a two-time All-WNC Conference honoree (2016, 2017) … a member of the National Honors Society … served as secretary of the SheepDog Club and a Camp STAR Counselor … is a chemistry tutor.

Cami Eder | Middle Blocker | 6’2 | Rochester, N.Y. | Pittsford Sutherland High School

High School: Three-year varsity volleyball player at Pittsford Sutherland … finished high school with a career record of 56-10 record and a 2016 Section V Class A Championship … racked up 420 kills, 125 digs and 105 total blocks during her career …captained the squad as a senior, posting 2017 kills … selected to the All-Country Division IV First Team … also played three years of varsity basketball and was a member of the Varsity and Interact Club.
