Head Coach Colleen Mullen

“Tonight, was a tale of two halves. It’s a tough loss especially coming off the double overtime loss to Lafayette where we were in the same situation. These situations teach the players how to play with a lead and also what it takes to battle back when you're down. We we have the lead early on, such as we did, we need to play hard and aggressive and battle throughout the game. These situations are new for us and my message for them is, ‘I believe in you, have confidence and play to win.’

Recap: Central Connecticut’s Kianna Patterson totaled 28 points to lead her team to an 18-point comeback against UAlbany on Wednesday night.

Despite trailing 36-20 at the half, the Blue Devils grabbed their first lead of the game, 47-46, with 3:43 to play in the fourth quarter. The Great Danes battled back to knot the score, 48-48, but the visitors would complete their comeback behind a late 12-5 run in the final three minutes.

Schecter accumulated 10 of her 12 points in the first half. The forward made a personal-best six field goals in the contest and finished the night with five boards, two assists and two blocks.

Senior Heather Forster paced all players with 10 boards, her third straight game with double-figure rebounds. Seven different Great Danes scored in the contest, as Forster, redshirt-junior Amanda Kantzy and redshirt-sophomore Khepera Stokes added seven points apiece.

UAlbany’s 36 points in the first half tied a season-high for the young squad. The 16-point lead was the second time this season the Great Danes held the advantage at the break.

Early on, things looked to be rolling in favor of UAlbany who outscored their opponents 20-8 in the second quarter. Central Connecticut soon erased the 16-point difference with a 19-8 run of their own in the third quarter.

The Blue Devils continued to stay hot, scoring 21 points in the final quarter, while limiting the Great Danes to nine.

Wednesday’s match-up featured just the second meeting between the two programs in the sport of women’s basketball. With the win, Central Connecticut evens the all-time series 1-1.

Next Up: The Great Danes return to the SEFCU Arena on Saturday, December 8 against Marist. Tip-off is slated to begin at 2 p.m. Saturday’s game will feature the program’s annual Holiday Hooplah event.
