Fansgiving: Bring a canned good, get a ticket discount
ALBANY, N.Y. – Fans who bring a canned food item to the University at Albany basketball doubleheader Wednesday, Nov. 14, will receive a discounted ticket good for both games as a show of appreciation for participating in the America East Food Frenzy.
Members of UAlbany’s Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC) will be collecting items in the SEFCU Arena lobby before the women’s team faces Manhattan at 5 p.m and the men's team hosts Boston University at 7:30 p.m.
As part of UAlbany's "Fansgiving," each canned food item will be good for one discounted ticket that gives admission to both the men's and women's games. The earlier you arrive, the bigger the discount. Prices will be as follows with a donation:
Before 5 p.m.: $5 Gray Level ticket
From 5:01-6 p.m.: $10 Gray Level ticket
From 6:01-7 p.m.: $12 Gray Level ticket.
The America East Food Frenzy, which began Sept. 17 and ends Nov. 30, is a conference-wide effort to collect items for local food banks. UAlbany’s goods will be donated to the Regional Food Bank of Northeastern, N.Y.
SAAC also has challenged all UAlbany student-athletes to donate $1 each that will be used to purchase canned goods for donation. The goal is 100 percent participation.
