Men's Soccer Visits American
ALBANY, N.Y. – On Tuesday, the University at Albany men’s soccer team will play its fourth and final game in its season-long four-game road trip with a visit to American University for a rare 12:00 p.m. kickoff.
The Great Danes (3-8-0, 0-3-0 AE) are 0-3 on this road trip through three games, and have lost their last five straight. In each of their previous three games, UAlbany has lost 1-0, including twice in overtime. The Danes last visited conference rival New Hampshire, who had been picked second in the America East preseason poll.
The Wildcats had been ranked #23 in the United Soccer Coaches national poll last week before falling at Binghamton, costing them their spot in the latest poll. The Great Danes played New Hampshire to a scoreless tie through regulation and one overtime period before letting up the game-winner in the 101st minute.
American most recently played Colgate to a scoreless, double-overtime tie as part of a quick two-game road swing that capped off a stretch where the Eagles played five of their last six on the road. American returns home for the first time since September 29 to face UAlbany.
By falling to 0-3 in conference play, UAlbany sits in last place, three points behind UMass Lowell, UMBC, and Hartford. Stony Brook remains undefeated in the America East and on top of the standings, followed by a three-way tie featuring New Hampshire, Vermont, and Binghamton. In addition to New Hampshire, UMass Lowell fell out of the national poll last week after losing to Stony Brook, having previously ranked #16 in the country.
The Great Danes will return home for the first time in four games over 18 days, and only the second time in 36 days, on Friday, October 12 to face Vermont.
