#19 UAlbany Travels to Maine and Hosts Fairfield this Weekend
ALBANY,N.Y.—This weekend #19 UAlbany will travel to Orono, Maine on Friday, October 6th to face the Maine Black Bears at 3:00 P.M., and on Sunday, the Great Danes will return home to take on a non-league game against Fairfield at 1:00 P.M.

UALBANY #19 IN NFHCA POLL:
This week the University at Albany women’s field hockey team moved down one spot to #19 in the NFHCA poll after a 1-1 weekend against America East opponents UMass Lowell and Vermont.
Last Friday, the Great Danes slipped to UMass Lowell 2-1 in double overtime and last Sunday UAlbany scored four goals against Vermont to earn the win (4-1).
The Maine Black Bears will enter Friday 7-3 on the season. Last Sunday, Maine competed in their first America East, East Division conference game of the season recording a 3-2 win over UMass Lowell. The Black Bears have only faced one ranked opponent this season, #12 Stanford, an America East West Division team. The Black Bears fell 1-4 where they outshot Stanford 9-8.
Player to Watch: Sophomore Brianna Ricker was named the America East Offensive Player of the Week for her performance against UMass Lowell. Ricker recorded two goals in the second-half to comeback from behind against the River Hawks. Ricker is third on the team in points (17), but is tied for first in goals (7).
UAlbany vs. Maine: The all-time series record between UAlbany and Maine currently stands with UAlbany in the lead 15-9. The last meeting was on October 21, 2016 when the Great Danes swept the Black Bears 2-0. The second goal of the game came from current sophomore Dana Bozek. In this match-up, Maine outshot UAlbany 7-5.
The Fairfield Stags are currently 2-9 this season. Before they enter Sunday’s meeting, the Stags will face #25 Monmoth on Friday. Fairfield has matched up with two America East teams this season, recording a 3-2 win over UMass Lowell and a 1-3 loss from California. Fairfield, a member of the Mid Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC), is 0-1 in conference thus far after falling to LIU Brooklyn 1-2.
Player to Watch: Senior Andrea Soler is the current Fairfield point leader (9). The Barcelona native leads the team in shots (32) and goals scored (4). Soler currently holds a .594 shot on goal percentage.
UAlbany vs. Fairfield: The Great Danes lead the Stags 9-0 in all-time match-ups. The last time the teams met was on November 6, 2014, which was the last season that Fairfield was apart of the America East Conference. The Stags fell 2-1 with both goals coming from current senior Anna Bottino.
