Women's Basketball Welcomes CeCe Mayo
ALBANY, N.Y. – The University at Albany women’s basketball program has added local talent Sierra Mayo for the upcoming season.
“We are very excited to have Shaker alumna CeCe Mayo join our UAlbany basketball family,” said head coach Joanna Bernabei-McNamee. “As one of the premier high school players in the Capital Region, she will be able to play multiple positions for us. CeCe is also a great student and I am looking forward to watching her grow both on and off the court. We are eager to have her in Purple & Gold.”
Mayo, who goes by CeCe, graduated Shaker high school in 2017 and will be a freshman when she arrives on campus. She is the all-time leading scorer for the Blue Bison, and racked up a number of accolades during her career.
As a senior at Shaker, Mayo led her team to a 20-3 record and a berth into the Section 2 AA finals against Shenendehowa. She averaged 17 points, 12 rebounds and six assists in her final year as a Bison.
In her final year, Mayo earned NYSSWA Third Team All-State honors, and was named section2basketball.com Player of the year. She earned All-Star accolades from the Suburban Council, the Times Union, News Channel 13, and the Post Star. As a junior in 2016, Mayo was named Player of the Year by the Troy Record, averaging 17.5 points and 10 rebounds per game.
