UAlbany Athletic Trainer Kevin Tarpey to Serve as Panelist for “Chasing the Dragon” Screening
ALBANY, N.Y. – UAlbany graduate assistant athletic trainer Kevin Tarpey will serve as a panelist during a screening of “Chasing the Dragon” on March 7th, helping lead a discussion with students and members of the community about prescription drug and heroin abuse.
This screening is in conjunction with the university, the FBI, the DEA, the New York State Police and the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of New York. “Chasing the Dragon” is a documentary film made by the FBI and the DEA about the dangers of drug use.
Tarpey will serve on this panel at the Campus Center, Room 375, on the UAlbany campus on March 7th at 8 p.m.
“I'm excited to sit on the panel and share the perspective of a sports medicine professional on this issue and how it plays a role in the realm of college athletics and what we do to prevent it,” said Tarpey. “This is a disease that has affected my family in the worst possible way recently, and I am excited to team up with Chasing the Dragon as well as the University at Albany to help fight this ongoing issue.”
At UAlbany, Tarpey is a graduate assistant athletic trainer, working primarily with the volleyball and baseball teams since Fall of 2016.
