BUFFALO – Former UAlbany men’s lacrosse standout goalkeeper Blaze Riorden has signed a professional contract to play for the Buffalo Bandits in the National Lacrosse League (NLL) for the 2017 season.
Riorden served as UAlbany’s starting goalkeeper the past four seasons, earning All-America honors as a senior and America East All-Conference honors each year playing. He is UAlbany’s Division I all-time leader in saves with 849 and earned 53 victories.
In indoor lacrosse, Riorden played for Team USA in the 2015 World Games, playing forward. He finished with nine goals and 11 assists in five games, helping the USA to a bronze medal finish.
Riorden becomes the second UAlbany player to play his first NLL season in 2017. He will join UAlbany alum David Brock, who has played with Buffalo with 2013.
The team announced Riorden’s signing on October 3rd. The Bandits begin their season on December 30th.
