ALBANY, N.Y. – Leading UAlbany to its 10th straight victory over rival UNH on Sunday, Laini Leindecker and Nicole Otero each earned America East volleyball weekly honors.

Leindecker was selected as America East Player of the Week while Otero was chosen as the league’s Defensive Specialist of the Week.

Leindecker now holds the UAlbany volleyball program record with her eighth career America East Player of the Week honor, surpassing the mark of seven by Teresa Coppiellie.

As a team this season, UAlbany has earned eight America East weekly honors.  Otero picked up her fourth defensive specialist of the week honor of the year and 10th of her career.

The two led UAlbany to a thrilling five-set victory over New Hampshire on Sunday to secure first place in the America East.  The Great Danes remain undefeated in conference play at 6-0.

Leindecker led the UAlbany front row with a double-double, hitting .311 for 21 kills and 19 kills, plus earning the match-winning ace in the fifth set.  At libero, Otero locked down the back row with a season-high 27 digs, adding five assists and a service ace.

The Great Danes begin the second half of America East play this Friday, taking on Binghamton at 7 p.m. at the University Gym.
