ALBANY, N.Y. – UAlbany midfielder Alexa Schneiderhas been recognized as one of 30 Division I players nominated for the 2016 Senior CLASS Award for women’s soccer.
According to its mission statement, the Senior CLASS award “focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities.” The award highlights the four Cs: Classroom, Character, Community and Competition. Seniors in their final year of eligibility can be nominated for this national award.
Schneider, a team captain from Levittown, New York, became the first two-time America East All-Conference First Team player in UAlbany women’s soccer player and is tied for fourth in program history in goals. In addition, she was a member of the 2015 America East All-Academic Team and stands with a 3.81 cumulative GPA in human biology.
Schneider is the only representative on the list of 30 from the America East Conference and one of two student-athletes that play for a school in the state of New York.
Later in the year, a national committee will shorten the list from 30 to 10.
