Meghan Cavanaugh Recognized as America East Women’s Soccer Rookie of the Week
ALBANY, N.Y. – Netting two goals in the victory over Stony Brook, UAlbany’s Meghan Cavanaugh has been chosen as the America East Rookie of the Week, the conference announced on Monday.
This is the team’s first America East weekly honor of the 2016 season and Cavanaugh’s first of her career. It is the team’s first America East Rookie of the Week since Vivian Vega was selected on November 6, 2014.
The freshman forward from Shenendehowa High School helped UAlbany win its conference home opener over rival Stony Brook on Thursday.
Cavanaugh scored two goals for UAlbany against Stony Brook in the second half to secure the victory, including a 20-yard blast on the second score. Two goals in one game is a career-high for the rookie.
On the season, she has a team-best 24 shots, 13 shots on goals and three goals scored.
Cavanaugh and the Great Danes will hit the road for their next game, taking on Binghamton on Thursday, October 6th at 7 p.m.
