UAlbany Men’s Lacrosse Sweeps Three America East Weekly Awards
ALBANY, N.Y. – After earning a 20-14 home victory over Drexel on Saturday, the UAlbany men’s lacrosse took all three America East weekly honors, the league announced on Monday.
It is the first time that UAlbany has swept the weekly awards under the new format with three honors. All three players are earning their first-ever America East weekly honor.
All three were key in the victory over Drexel. UAlbany used a 7-1 fourth quarter to take the six-goal win.
Oakes earned a career-high eight points and tied a career-best six goals, adding two assists, in the victory, including three goals in the pivotal fourth quarter. The redshirt junior attack also added two caused turnovers on the ride.
Reh helped a defense that held Drexel to one goal in the fourth. The sophomore scooped up seven ground balls and caused two turnovers on the defense and faceoff unit, with each caused turnover coming in the fourth quarter.
Ornstein took every faceoff for UAlbany on Saturday, winning 68.4% of his chances against three different Drexel players. He had 11 ground balls himself and scored a goal in the first quarter off his own won faceoff.
Oakes, Reh, Ornstein and the Great Danes will take on Cornell at home on Saturday, March 5th at 1 p.m.
