UAlbany Women’s Soccer Names Team Captains for 2014 Season

ALBANY, N.Y. – Head women’s soccer coach Caitlin Cucchiella has announced that UAlbany players Celia Balf, Kelly Kempf and Alana Brennan will serve as team captains for the 2014 season.

Balf will be the primary captain, with Kempf and Brennan being the assistant team captains.  All three will serve as team captains for the first time this year.

“We feel that this trio is the absolute embodiment of captains and leadership,” said Cucchiella. “They will work exhaustedly to support each and every member of this team on and off the field.”

Balf comes into 2014 as a redshirt sophomore after sitting out last year due to injury.  She was a two-time team captain of the Waring School before coming to UAlbany.

Kempf enters her junior season for UAlbany, compiling 16 starts and 24 appearances for the team in the past two seasons.  She served as team captain as a junior and senior at Douglas MacArthur High School.

Brennan has served as the UAlbany starting goalkeeper the past two years.  As a senior in high school, she was the team captain of St. John the Baptist.

The Great Danes play their first game on August 22nd, taking on St. Mary’s in California.
