Cody Futia Named a Finalist for Yeardley Reynolds Love Unsung Hero Award
BALTIMORE – The One Love Foundation has announced that UAlbany men’s lacrosse player Cody Futia is a finalist for the Yeardley Reynolds Love (YRL) Unsung Hero Award.
The YRL Unsung Hero Award recognizes the accomplishments of student-athletes who make contributions on the field and promotes positive traits off the field, including being hard-working, humble, honest, kind and enthusiastic.
Futia was announced as a finalist on the One Love Foundation Twitter and Facebook accounts as part of its social media campaign.
Futia, a senior on the UAlbany close defense, has earned awards on and off the field. He earned All-America East Second Team all honors and was honored with the SUNY Chancellor’s Award for having a cumulative 3.71 GPA.
The One Love Foundation was established in 2010 in honor of former University of Virginia lacrosse player Yeardley Reynolds Love. The vision of the organization, according to its mission statement, is to educate people to recognize the warning signs of relationship violence and motivate them to step up and take action.
