Rocio Lopez Honored for Second Time as America East Player of the Week

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – University at Albany women's tennis player Rocio Lopez was named America East Player of the Week on Tuesday, March 26. This is the second time the junior has received the honor this season. She was named to the All-America East First Team in 2012.

Lopez, a native of Madrid, Spain, took home the only victory against Presbyterian College last Tuesday. The Georgia Tech transfer first triumphed to an 8-1 victory at No. 1 doubles with teammate Kirsten Scott and followed with a 6-3, 3-6, 1-0 (12-10) win at No. 2 singles. She is a team-best 10-2 in singles play for 2013.

The Great Danes will continue a five game roadstand this week with a match against Boston University on Thursday, March 28 followed by a second against Bryant University on Friday, March 29. Match times are slated for 3 p.m.
