1. A Tough Road Test
UAlbany travels north to Burlington, Vt. to face the Catamounts of Vermont on Saturday, Jan. 5 in Patrick Gymnasium. The Catamounts have given the Great Danes a fit of late, defeating UAlbany the last six times. Vermont owns a 10-3 record versus UAlbany in Burlington and an overall series lead of 23-8. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m.

2. Another Senior Guard Climbs A List
With Mike Black climbing the program's record book in both points and assists in a career, fifth-year senior guard Jacob Iati is making a climb in both the three-pointers made in a season and in a career during the Division I era. Iati has made 53 this season, putting him 13th (#12 Jon Iati & Brent Wilson, 56; #11 Logan Aronhalt, 60). His three three-pointers vs. UMBC on Jan. 3 put him 10th with 103 career 3FGM (#9 Rhasheed Paterson, 104; #8 Levi Levine, 108)

3. Let Conference Play Begin
It took very little time for UAlbany to get in the swing of things for the beginning of America East Conference play. The Great Danes opened up with an impressive 17-point win at home over the UMBC Retrievers, 65-48. Jacob Iati and Mike Black tallied their 13th games this season of double-digit scoring to lead UAlbany to its 12th win and tie for the best 15-game start in the America East (previously the 2004 Vermont Catamounts).

4. Can't Have Too Many Sidekicks
While Batman has Robin, he also has Batgirl and Alfred and many more. Mike Black has Jacob Iati to help score but the rest of the team has stepped up to support their cause to win as well. In the last four games (3-1), the Great Danes bench has outscored the opposing team bench by a stellar 89-32.

5. Defense Wins Championships
The Great Danes have shown that they have taken big strides to improve their defense this season. In the last six games in which UAlbany is 5-1, the team has held its opponents to a season-low 56.7 points per game. When the Great Danes hold opponents to 66 points or less, they are 11-1.
